The OxBox Story
OxBox has come so far and made some crazy changes in the years since Miriam and James started it! It all started while James was getting his MBA and Miriam was getting her Master's in Science in Education and Child Development at the University of Oxford (hence the Ox in OxBox).
Now OxBox focuses on providing high-quality resources and ideas for parents and teachers through digital products. Miriam designs the products based on her teaching experience and what she learned while completing her Master's degree. Most products are available here but make sure to read the OxBlog for some exclusive free products and teacher tips! Follow us on Instagram and Pinterest for more ideas (and cute dog pictures). OxBox started as a means of promoting school readiness for the children of New Orleans (where Miriam had been teaching before moving to England). Tilly Kirby, one of Miriam's classmates, joined the team, adding even more expertise in childhood development and all the artistic talent. Miriam and James returned to New Orleans in the Fall of 2017 to continue building the OxBox company. OxBox was selected for the Tiny Fellowship by 4.0 Schools, an education focused business accelerator and non-profit. OxBox sold subscription boxes of developmentally appropriate toys and books for kids from 6 months to kindergarten age. Each of the 17 boxes focused on a developmental theme and included high-quality toys, books, and most importantly, directions for parents on how to use these items to foster a love of play and learning in their child. OxBox strongly believes in developing the whole child and included ways to foster the development of social-emotional skills, creativity, fine and gross motor skills, pre-reading and writing skills, early math concepts, and language. After a move to DC in October of 2018 Miriam took over OxBox and switched the focus to digital resources. If you are interested in knowing what toys, books, or activities were included in the subscription OxBox we are happy to tell you!
